Fishing guide

Fishing on Hylterium

The system contains 30 species and selects catches according to biome. Common, uncommon, rare and legendary variants affect both fish length and weight.

Where to fish

BiomeFrequent or characteristic catches
BeachClownfish, pufferfish, tangs and jellyfish
RiverBluegill, catfish, minnow, rainbow trout and salmon
LakeBluegill, catfish, minnow, trout, salmon and trilobite

Beaches may also contain much rarer catches such as hammerhead sharks, humpback whales, lobsters or crabs. Pike are rare river and lake catches. Other species use the general table when no more specific local table applies.

Rarity, size and records

Each species has its own length and weight ranges. Higher rarity applies a multiplier to both values, so a legendary fish is not only harder to obtain but may also break a record.

A new record must improve the old one by at least 1 cm or 0.1 kg. Global record announcements have a 10-minute anti-spam timer. Use /hfleaders to view personal and global leaderboards.

Release or keep

Releasing fish is enabled. A released fish left on land disappears quickly and should not be treated as storage. Loot pools are enabled as well, allowing occasional non-fish catches.

The angler bench provides related crafting. Rarity, biome and waiting time are the main factors.

Tips

  1. Change biomes to complete your collection instead of staying at one fishing spot.
  2. Compare length and weight before selling or processing a catch.
  3. Keep rare and legendary variants until you have checked the records.
  4. Use the angler bench to make use of catches that do not break a record.

Exact probabilities may be rebalanced. The biome and rarity shown on a catch are the useful player-facing information.
